A few items of change this offseason:
- Refer your friends and leaguemates to join the JBL this season! The Jays are confirmed open, and I expect a couple more teams are also on their way to being made available!
- Several teams have not elected to make option decisions, non-tenders, and buy-outs yet. I will make decisions in best judgement on their behalf if not made before the end of month deadline
- The league spreadsheet used to contain an archive of previous season's arbitration raises, option results, etc. I have removed those and moved them to a seperate archive spreadsheet that I will link in the archive section of the Proboards. I doubt anyone except myself felt it necessary to retain these, but there you go.
- The recent MLB CBA increased the minimum salary for major leaguers to $720,000, increasing $20,000 per year until 2026. Inkeeping with a league tenant to retain as much realism as possible, I plan to raise the minimum major league salary to $800,000 (higher than the current MLB in order to prevent having to raise this every year. Current major leaguers with salary below $800,000 will have their salary raised. Any player above $800,000 including those arbitration eligible are not affected. I have looked at a sample of our JBL teams and found this to raise salaries by around $1-$3 MM per team. The only argument I see is to also raise each team's salary caps by some commensurate amount (or not do it at all) but this measure should directionally make those prospects who immediately become fantasy starters less valuable by a hair, as they are currently (rightly so) the best assets in the league
- The Free Agent Calculator will be updated for 2023 and reflect the minimum salary accordingly. It remains linked at the top of the proboards site on desktop, or accessible via the drop down menu on mobile.
