Red Sox send: Joc Pederson $15,000,000 2024-25T -Retain $10,000,000 through 2024 (all base years) Phillies send: 3rd AMAT 5th AMAT
Phillies reasoning: - I know how it looks, but I do still feel like my squad can compete sooner rather later. I should have more reinforcements coming up over the next year or two, as well. Rather than one big offseason splash to try and compete, I think my best bet is to make smart moves where I can without overextending. Joc may just be a platoon power bat but he should be able to help over the next couple seasons as my team fills out. The 3rd AMAT was a tough pill to swallow but that's where the salary retention comes in to allow me enough flexibility in free agency to still pick up some big names here and there.
Thanks James, glad we could get a deal done quick.

Boston sends 6.22 AMAT (Tor) to Phi.
Appreciate Paul working out the trade with the flexibility to make this trade happen. Boston picks up few more draft picks trying to improve the farm system.

FYI - I adjusted Joc's salary retention on my spreadsheet to show -$10MM since I'm getting it from BOS. His sheet shows correctly, it was just mine that showed I was paying an extra $10MM, so that's a $20MM swing I can't afford right now...ha.
