Toronto accepts this trade. I get to consolidate depth pieces for a player who can help me get towards having a competitive team and still get some pieces for the future.

+10 Jays, a definite selling low of Gausman. At best it's just a money dump for Seattle.

A couple reasons for this trade on my side, I needed to get some more major league depth and create some salary cap room for flexibility. I have been operating against the cap all off season and moving Gausman's contract gives me some room to breathe. I have faith in him, as I traded for him in July, I hope he steps up and builds on a strong second half for Toronto's sake. As for Almonte and the pick, they are good pieces for Toronto's future. In return I get a young affordable pitcher in Castro who I hope builds on a solid rookie year and maybe becomes a SP down the road, a depth player in Hernandez who can play multiple positions and can fill a SS void for me if need be, and two propects I am high on. I believe Gurriel can be an impact major leaguer in the near future who can play all over the field, and Ornales is a nice prospect but is quite a ways away from making an impact. I would like to thank Frank for being a great partner in this trade, as he was pleasure to work with in the process. It took nearly a month to reach an agreement, but I feel this trade accomplishes needs for both sides!

+5 Mariners
Gurriel's a really good, if not excellent, prospect. Kike's a potentially-emerging star role player but still have to prove he can hit for fantasy owners. Castro still has a chance to become a good bullpen piece somewhere - but has yet to put it all together. Ornelas showed well at only age 17 in rookie ball, plenty of potential but who knows yet.
I give the slight edge to Mariners because of Gausman's overpriced salary. Gausman could still figure it all out and make the $8MM seem like a bargain but none of that is likely, albeit possible still. Shedding his salary is why I give Mariners the edge, he can do more now with the extra $8MM while still getting more known commodities for a pick.

Trade processed. +10 TOR for me, I think Gausman is the best player in the deal and Almonte the best prospect
