Detroit Trades: Aaron Altherr
Mike Gerber Spencer Adams
Detroit's 4th Round (4.5) 2018 AMAT Draft Pick
Toronto Trades:
Aaron Sanchez
Johnny Homza
Matt Wisler (2019 - 2021 1 million paid by Toronto)
First off, I would like to thank Frank for the very pleasant negotiations, although this deal was almost 2 moths in the making, the negotiations were at not point remotely frustrating.
Detroit Accepts: First off, its obvious I'm taking on risk here. There is no assurances that Sanchez has found any solutions to his "blister issues" and the fact that the jays have tinkered with his release to try and help is....well....concerning. And at 8M for 4 years, the contract is a prime Boom or Bust candidate. For all I know he could return to his road to a CY Young or be relegated to the Pen a month into next season. Now with that out of the way, I'm willing to take the risk on the young power pitcher. Johnney Homza is simply a player I found very interesting in my 2017 AMAT Draft research and was sniped out of a couple picks before. Matt Wisler was a 1st RD at one time and was considered a top SP prospect for a couple of years, he has good stuff, just has to control it. Luckily he is with a team that will give him plenty of chances to reach his potential as a SP and @ 1M after this coming season, its a risk I can swallow. Giving Up Altherr is hard, so young and so much potential especially in this league format, but I think pitching is hard to come by. I would of like to keep Gerber, but not having to protect him from Rule 5 is a mitigating factor.

Toronto accepts this trade. It was a long time coming (due to me being slow haha), but glad we saw it through.
I saved money (which is key depending on what happens with Ohtani), get OF depth which my team needed, and get players I want on my team instead of players I just happened to inherit. Plus I view the Gausman trade with Seattle and this one in tandem and like the net outcome for me.

Probably a 0...but I don't think it'll be an even trade. Just giving it a 0 grade cause there's a wide range of outcomes on both sides. I would probably bet on Sanchez bouncing back - though you never know with the juiced ball - but think Tigers gave up a couple of legit potential pieces too.

0-This is a fair trade in my opinion. I believe Detroit wins in the long run as Sanchez has the ability to be an ace and is on an affordable contract

+10 Tigers
Barring health concerns, Sanchez is the most talented player with the potential to help anchor a fantasy rotation. And $1MM of Wisler's contract is paid by Jays.
Altherr did have a mini-breakout of sorts but inconsistency and injury prevented us from seeing if he could perform at a high level all season. I still have significant doubts he's more than a fourth outfielder. But he's young and could develop further. If he turns into an OF2 type, then it's a lot more even.

Processed. +15 TOR as I love Altherr and think TOR shed a lot of dead salary.
BTW Gerber is Rule 5 eligible, so promote or risk losing
