TOR receives: Luis Carpio, 5th rounder in the MiLB draft. TEX receives: Joe Kelly
Why Texas liked this deal: I feel as I need some bullpen depth really bad, and this was the best deal I had. Kelly has had potential for a long time, I fear he will have arm issues later in his career, but for a limited time his 97+ MPH fastball is hard to ignore. He also had a good year last year. I'm willing to take a chance on him.
For Toronto. I drafted Carpio in the mid rounds I the initial MiLB draft and he was a guy I liked. He has good contact skills and a good OBP guy. So he's has a good prospect to get in this deal.
Pleasure doing work with you!

Toronto accepts. Very smooth negotiation process with Joe!
Wanted to continue to gut salary. As a result, I get a MI prospect flier and an extra pick in the MILBFA draft.

+5 Rangers
If Rangers need some bullpen depth, you could do worse. For a guy that throws 100mph, it still amazes me that he can't strike out a batter per inning - even as a reliever. But that speaks to his inability to control the zone, so that's why I didn't lean heavier for Rangers. That said, relievers often blossom around age 30 or so because they're usually converted starters who have to learn how to come in relief after starting all their lives - so the upside is a good gamble. I didn't look at Kelly's salary though, so hopefully that's not prohibitive.
The pick is decent but Carpio's another light-hitting MI, and those aren't significant fantasy assets. But I like his potential to reach the big leagues.

Probably +5 for Texas as well, not a big fan of Carpio and the 5th rounder is bargain shopping at that point in the draft. Of course setup guys/middle relievers only have limited value on their own.
