Dodgers trade
Kevin Kiermaier
FOR
Jameson Taillon Jesus Luzardo Jeter Downs Boone Logan
I needed to trade one of my OF to make room for Calhoun, so when I couldn’t give Piscotty away to anyone, it had to be Kiermaier. I get back a good young SP and a couple of pretty good lottery ticket prospects. Logan is just added in to even up the salaries a bit. Getting Taillon should help fill out my rotation for the coming season.

Pirates +2. If this were real life, this would be a good trade! This is a fantasy baseball league where defense doesn't mean anything. Anyways maybe a little overpay, but I like the deal.

I have three other starting pitchers I like more than Taillon... Cole,Greinke, and Quintana. I was looking for a starting OF on a decent contract. If Kiermaier can stay healthy for a full season he should put up really good numbers. Boone was put in to balance the salaries. The lower level minor league players to balance the trade. This trade should give me a full hitting lineup for the 2018 season.

+2 LAD At first I really didn't like this trade for PIT, it's harder to find affordable pitching then OF, but then realized Tallion doesn't quite earn his contract yet, though I think that could change this year. Still it's a fair swap for a decent OF considering the contracts, the specs are solid with upside but are really young. As a homer I think Downs is a stud though so LAD gets the nudge.

+15 Dodgers
Taillon has huge upside still, in my opinion, and has a good chance to be a #2 type SP. Luzardo's a former first-round prospect that dropped because of TJS and is still a high upside HS arm who pitched very well coming back from injury - top of rotation potential with moderate risk (other than injury). Jeter Downs is a good MI prospect that, I think, could've centerpieced a trade for KK. And Logan's a fairly decent bullpen arm with holds potential.
KK, at his best, is a guy that won't hurt you in any category but won't really help either. He's a mediocre fantasy OF. Because of the depth here, he's got some value. But Taillon alone seems to be a healthy return for KK...let alone 2 good prospects.

+10 Dodgers. Getting this kind of a prospect return for a pretty average outfielder works perfectly with the previous Dodgers owner's rebuild strategy. The Dodgers are going to be a force to be reckoned with for years to come, it just probably won't be this year

I'd say +7 Dodgers, I do think it's harder to find a decent OF'er than a decent SP'er in a 24-team format with 4-5 starters per team so I understand trading Taillon for Kiermayer but don't think the difference was so great that the Pirates needed to give up two other prospects in the deal. Just one would have made it even for me, even with the Boone Logan contract also thrown in for cash reasons.
