Cubs send Sean Newcomb Vladimir Gutierrez
Braves send Delino Deshields
This adds a ton of much needed speed to my roster. It didn't come cheap but my earlier offseason moves to acquire additional pitching makes Newcomb somewhat expendable. Gutierrez is a solid prospect and may eventually be ranked in the 50-100 range of top prospects, but I also get to keep Deshields for several years on what could end up being a very affordable contract.

I accept this trade because I have some extra OF and I am getting 2 promising young pitchers. Thanks for the trade Curtis!

+10 Braves
Newcomb, while has his drawbacks, is easily the highest upside guy in this deal - and he showed well last year. Still plenty of risk involved but the high ceiling coupled with a decent prospect in Gutierrez makes me lean Braves, definitively, on this one.
I like DeShields because the dude gets on base - unlike many other speedsters. So, provided he gets the ABs, he could get you 30+ steals. But he's essentially a 3-cat contributor for two potential 4-cat contributors so that's the only reason I don't rate this equal. Plus, I feel like DeShields' hit tool is still questionable - and he only stays in the lineup if he's getting on base enough, so there's risk in losing ABs if his AVG drops 40 points.
Upside favors Braves, while both sides carry enough risk to negate that. Overall, to me, feels like Braves got a really good deal.

I'll say even, Newcomb's upside is higher than DeShields' baseline while the other guy's a lottery ticket. But it's a fair deal since DeShields is a win-now option for Cubs while Braves get younger.

lol oops, Fixed. I forgot you weren't Boston anymore, and once I couldn't find DeShields on Boston's roster I just switched to ATL an forgot to update the Pitcher's destination.
