TEX trades Brian Anderson Leody Taveras 3rd Rd MiLB Draft Pick 6th Rd AMAT Draft Pick
Dodgers Trade: Stephen Piscotty Cal Quantrill Pay $4.5 million of Piscotty’s contract annually
What else can I say at this point? I’m collecting prospects and draft picks, while shedding salary. As many of you know, I’ve been trying for weeks to trade away Piscotty. This deal with $11.5 million of his salary going to TEX is the best I’ve been able to find. I lose Quantrill, who I tried my best to keep, but gain Taveras and I’m much stronger in P prospects than I am hitters. Anderson has a good chance at playing time in Miami and I had a CI spot to fill. In my situation you can’t ever have enough draft picks. This may not improve me in the near term, but looking 2 or 3 years down the line, I’m hoping it does.

TEX accepts
TEX reasoning: I moved a player where I have surplus which is 3B to a position where I need players. I have Candelario and Beltre for 3B and I need an OF badly. I moved Taveras, as I was looking to do;he's just so far away still and I am stockpiling OF prospects. The two picks hurt, but at the point of 3.14 I just think that's a flyer in the draft. The AMAT pick hurt, but I have to give up value to receive value.
I receive Piscotty at 11.5 million annually. I feel as if it's expensive, but I have money to spend and an A spot in the OF to fill. Quantrill is intriguing, I pryed him away in the deal, seeing I can never have enough pitching in my system. Again, a move from a surplus to a need. Quantrill is in AA and just finished his first full season. I know Taveras could burn me, but I'm taking a guy with a high floor and a ceiling over a guy with a really high ceiling.
Good doing business Jon!

Even, in the long run LA is more poised to come out on top, but the money retention really even's out the deal for the time being.

+3 TEX. I like this trade for both sides and it makes sense, nudge to Texas for getting Quantrill back for taking the sting out of losing Tavarez.
