Phillies send: - Franklyn Kilome, Minors
- Mickey Moniak, Minors
Mariners send:
Phillies reasoning: - I've been really high on Evan White since he was a draft prospect and was comp'ing him to Cody Bellinger before I started reading others comparing him to Bellinger. Basically, I see a future .300+/30+/100+ hitter, though I do think the in-game power won't develop as quickly as I'd like. Due to my bias for White, I realize I gave up more than I should have but in my defense, it didn't cost me Yordan Alvarez who was part of our original discussions.
- I like both Kilome and Moniak. Kilome because I see mid-rotation upside but his development seems to be going slower than hoped, and so I made him available. Moniak because he's very young and expected to run into bumps like last year but is still so far away.
In the end, I also believe White is closer to the bigs than either Kilome or Moniak.

Mariners accept. I'm very high on White, but I don't view him as highly as Paul, as I don't see the Bellinger comp much because of the power. I see him as a solid mlb 1B with above average speed and defense who will hit for AVG but not much pop. As a mariners fan I hope I am wrong, but I am leaning towards a Dustin Ackley 2.0 unfortunately. I have been targeting Kilome for a while and I really like the upside. I see him contributing to the Phils very soon. Moniak is a wildcard for me but I think he will hit, though he may be a ways away, he is a number 1 pick which almost guarantees he will make it to the bigs. That can't be said about most "prospects". This is a good old fashioned two for one swap in my opinion. Thanks Paul we finally got it done!

+30 for Seattle. Mariners are getting a top 50 prospect (probably higher) and a big arm for a 1B lacking in the power department.

+5 SEA
I'm no where near the vicinity on White that PHI is, and I wouldn't pay this much for him, but I understand the reasoning. Moniak isn't a top 50 guy, I doubt he'll ever have the power to be considered as such, hit tools are finicky and often exaggerated. I think a straight up trade would have been even because of prospect value preference. I like Kilome and his two plus pitches so I think he's more then a throw in piece.

Tough to grade cause it depends how quickly and how much you've soured on Moniak. It could be a +5 Mariners or a +50. Either way don't see as much risk on their end as the Phillies.
