MIN Reasons:
This deal for MIN is all about gaining another C prospect and getting another young, inexpensive OF (who is a quality defender w/ base stealing promise - an OF who should play for the rebuilding Marlins). I give up a struggling young SP w/ potential (Norris) who was pretty rough last year (& cost 15+ mil) and inherit (2) terrible SPs in Moore & Miller who have been equally as disappointing. This was all about providing some salary relief to LAD and absorbing a couple of his bad contracts.
I was able to gain my two young players by spending only a net loss of $2.691 mil.

LAD Reasoning:
For me this deal is really all about the terrible starting pitchers. I feel like Norris has three things going for him in comparison to the two SP I gave up. 1) He's younger and has a chance to still figure it out. 2) He has a better chance to start than Miller does and he's not in Texas like Moore. 3) I believe if Norris doesn't improve and become a MLB SP that he has a higher chance to retire due to his free spirit nature, while Moore and Miller will just hang around and suck up free money.
I'm also freeing up $2.691 Mil, which will be used for promotions I'm sure. I had to give up two pretty decent prospects, but that's all relative. For MIN, they will be near the top of his prospect rankings, but I saw them as my 4th best C prospect and 9th best OF prospect. Gaining back the AMAT 3.9 pick gives me 7 of the first 73 picks in this summer's draft, which will give me higher odds of picking up useful players, while also freeing me up to trade picks in rounds 5-10 if needed.

+2 MIN?
Egh these are some awful contracts. I personally would rather have the Moore/Miller part of this deal. I'm still stupidly a believer in Moore, plus he stopped throwing his horrible fastball at the end of last year to some positive results and showed a willingness to experiment with his mechanics. Miller was actually good once. I still don't understand how Norris got paid that much. A guy with that low a SwST rate should have that low a GB rate. I mean the same could be said for Moore I guess, but Moore has pedigree and is still one of the harder throwing lefties out there. All that said I'd prefer Moore, but understand why someone would rather have Norris.
Trade processed on fantrax and spreadsheet.
