Braves sends Corbin Burnes SP Mil minors
Dodgers sends his 1st rd pick in 2018 Amat Draft (#11 overall)
I am doing this trade in order to be able to draft one of the top college players.
Thanks for the trade!

While I valued the 11th pick pretty highly, I also have the 1st and 25th picks. At least one of those three was going to go to a college level SP, so I decided to swap for Burnes and get a little more certainty. Although there are sure to be at least a couple of SP at 11 that will end up better than Burnes, my odds of picking them from all the ones that won’t be good are mediocre at best. Basically I’m just swapping for higher odds of a pretty decent floor.
Now if anyone wants to trade me a hitter that I value higher than picks 1 or 25, feel free to send an offer my way!
Thanks to the Braves for sticking with this one and working something out that we were both happy with.

+10 LAD. I don't think all the hightop end college bats will be there at 11. If you want a college arm then maybe. Then why trade Burnes for a college arm? I dont really see it, but I could be overvaluing the top college bats. Anyways i dont think this moves the needle much imo

+11 Dodgers, not so much on talent but more I look at it as Burnes being a top 100 prospect much closer to the majors than whoever gets picked at #11, it's at best adding another couple years to development time to go from Burnes to a guy picked in this year's draft for likely just similar upside. I'd have wanted another asset back in the deal (prospect or pick).

+15 Dodgers
Most have already mentioned why Burnes is the better choice. While he's scuffling a bit now, he still has a solid-good pro track record - which no 2018 draftee has yet. I'm not all that impressed with what could be left at 1.11 - I'd take Burnes too.
