Cleveland confirms. I made this trade to bolster my team for the playoff push. I feel i upgraded at catcher, 2b, and obviously the bullpen. Goodrum should help with steals. I feel a lot better about paying players to actually contribute. Dumping Vargas was a huge relief. This trade also nets me around $3 mil. Which is a big deal as I have been working with under $200k. Jansens large contract is only through next year. So that's nice.
I like Pavin Smith but his lack of power is concerning for a first baseman. Beeks is intriguing but I see him as a 4 or 5th starter. Losing Stephenson hurts, I liked him a lot. But I feel if you have a window then go for it. That's what I'm doing.

MIN reasons: This deal was all about moving one of the top RPs in MLB and picking up some young players. I obviously have a lot of holes so Kenley wasn't going to be the difference between me winning now. Hate losing Goodrum but I can lose the McCann contract after this year, will lose the kipnis contract after next year (which was the same length as Kenley's). I take on long term contracts in Morin & Vargas in return for prospects Beeks, Smith & Stephenson. I made numerous inquiries on what I could get for Jansen's services and this was the only deal that seemed to work out for both of us. CLE upgrades for the playoffs and I get some young players.

I like this deal. Very interesting and thought out. I don't see a clear winner in this deal. Dumping Vargas's contract is a big plus. Kipnis is a good buy low candidate and even if he doesn't pan out, he only has a year and a half left on his contract. McCann is intriguing, having a down year and maybe he can pick it up and maybe get a flyer for him at the deadline. Yan Gomes is having an interesting year; slugging is at .460, that's pretty nice for a catcher. Niko Goodrum was just released from the Twins organization this year and is having a great year by my opinion. Jansen is Jansen haha.
Pavin Smith, I like. A college bat last year who has an advanced hit tool, but the power has not shown up yet. I like him, he is a good buy low candidate. Tyler Stephenson is having a good year after struggling with injuries prior to this year. Good power potential, but the strikeouts are concerning for me. He is the heir to Tucker Barnhart, who is also having a good year. Beeks is a starter knocking on the door. Can't have too many depth options and maybe he can reach his ceiling as a #3 starter? More likely a back end/ bullpen piece imo. Solid prospect package.
OVerall, I'd give it a +3 for the Indians. Dumping Vargas's contract is the one that gives it plus to the Indians.

+10 Min, I love pavin smith, and Goodrum in my opinion is overpaid hype that isn't proven yet

+10 CLE in my opinion as Jansen is obviously a huge get for the next couple of years. The prospect price of Smith and Stephenson feels a little on the light side plus shedding Vargas and Kipnis (who I think is toast) is also very nice. Overall pretty balanced and makes sense for both sides.
Processed.
