My reasoning for this is simple. I have several top prospects that are nearing the majors and no salary cap left to promote them. I also have a couple of guys that will be Rule 5 eligible and need a roster spot this winter. By gaining cap space and promoting some of these guys now, I can make more room in my minors for all my draft picks, plus hopefully a couple more I'm trying to pick up.
Oh, and all I'm giving up is Houck, who I'm pretty low on and don't consider to be one of my better prospects.
