Detroit Trades:

Clay Buchholz (Retains Full Salary for 2018)

Reasoning: I just have so much SP depth, it doesn't make sense to keep it all and I still have more to sell. I really like Buchholz and would have loved to keep him for my own depth, but he is the one who garnering interest. a 2019 amat pick is nice, since I just traded one away. And McCarthy is low rated..... but I rarely hear MLB.COM speak so highly of such a low rated prospect. This interests me.

My reasoning

I see a chance to be competitive in the playoff race with Yadi, Wil Myers, Elvis Andrus and Kole Calhoun coming off the DL and performing well. My rotation has been decent but could use a boost, and even though Buchholz has an up and down track record, he's pitching well at the moment. McCarthy is underrated, and adding a 2nd rounder to McCarthy is a nice return for DET. There just aren't that many available SP's with a low salary that are doing what Buchholz is currently doing so I'm willing to pay the price to get him.
