Draft begins 0600 EST 11/5/18
I have set the MiLFA draft to begin on Monday November 5th at 0600 EST. This is a change from last year's January start date in order to give teams more certainty when planning for roster decisions that must be made by the end of November. I also tried to keep the holiday season free of fantasy baseball commitments (last season's MiLFA draft took 15 days to complete).
Each team will have 6 hours to make a selection, with the clock stopping between 0200 and 0600 EST, effectively making the overnight pick a 10 hour clock rather than 6 hour. The pick clock may be sped up in later rounds as picks become less consequential in order to expedite the draft.
If a team fails to make a selection prior to the clock expiring, then the next team will be eligible to pick. A team that misses its pick in a round will be allowed to make the pick at any time until the end of the draft.
Player Pool
As a reminder, players eligible in this draft are all that are unowned by a JBL team and are rookie eligible (have less than 130 AB or 50 IP in the MLB). An exception to this is international free agents that are not subject to the MLB's international bonus pool rules - those that are 25+ years old or have more than 6 years of professional experience.
Since this is a bit of a murky situation contact me if you have any questions regarding this year's crop of free agents (Victor Victor Mesa is eligible for the MiLFA draft IF he signs with an MLB franchise prior to the draft start date). This is a new ruling this season and one that I did not have an appreciation for during last offseason's Ohtani discussion - I realize that this ruling would have made him MiLFA eligible but after a season of deliberation I now believe this is the only way to consistently apply a set of eligibility criteria.
All owned minor leaguers can be searched easily by pressing Ctrl + F on any tab of the league spreadsheet, clicking the "..." and selecting "Search all sheets" on the subsequent window (all sheets is selected by default if my browser is any indication".
