Cincinnati Sends: 3B Eugenio Suarez 9,100,000 2020 2B Max Schrock
Philadelphia Sends: 1B Tommy Joseph 15,600,000 2021-22P OF Dalton Pompey 3,900,000 2021-22P 2B Vidal Brujan 1B Yordan Alvarez P Resly Linares 2019 5th Round Amat
I accept: First contacted me about taking on that Joseph contract and I really wanted no part of it unless I was able to get Vidal out of it, who I am extremely high on and I could move some money back the other way. There was a natural fit with Eugenio, and I felt the price was Yordan and Linares in a vaccuum. Paul was understandably reticent, but at the same time I was not willing to give up my best player and take on potentially the worst contract in the league, so we adopted a wait and see approach. Shrock, the pick and Pompey were added to make the other sides feel better about the raw deals.
I would like to both thank and apologize to Paul for the negotations, I'm glad we could reach an agreement.

I agree.
No need to apologize for anything, it went fine. Everyone's entitled to stand their ground for whatever reasons they choose. In the end, I gave up what I was willing (different from happy...ha).
My reasoning:
3B was a constant headache for me last year. And while I have several other holes to fill, I don't think my roster is too far from being able to compete now. In the process, I also - finally - shed myself of Tommy Joseph's contract. Ironically, he'll probably be a little fantasy relevant again with the rebuilding Rangers, but who knows - in either case, I'm happy to unload some dead money and get a star third basemen.
Sure, it cost me some quality prospects but I've had Yordan on the chopping block for a big bat since last season. I like him a lot but I don't expect him to contribute in 2019. Brujan is one of my personal favorites but in the Rays system, he's not sniffing 2019 service time - maybe not any/much in 2020. Linares is another I like but again, for the chance at competing now, he's expendable.
Thanks Woods. Good dealing with you sir.

+5 CIN Although I hesitate to give any team a positive for taking on the Joseph contract, I think the Reds did very well on prospects here. With both teams being middle of the pack last year, it seems each has taken a different direction with this trade. It will be interesting to see how that works out for each.

+10 CIN, Tommy Josephs contract is a burden but he is capable of producing at the MLB level. Kinda reminds me of Jorge Soler in this league last year, though I would rather have Soler. The prospects are very nice coming along with Joseph, I think Alvarez will anchor an MLB lineup for years to come. I also like CIN side of the deal more because I am not as high on Saurez as most but that is just personal preference.
