Brandon Belt $13,600,000 2021
(SFG to retain $7,000,000)
3rd round AMAT draft pick
I need some help at 1st base and Brandon Belt does just that. Last year was a down year after getting his appendix removed. I see another .800+ OPS year for him next year. Getting him at $6.6 mil isn't bad. Hopeful to get a few good years.

I confirm this trade. the rebuilding process continues I get 2 draft picks and a prospect I like. it hurts loosing the 3rd
but I think it's worth it

I really like Belt and think he's a great buy low after the year from hell especially at the 6 mil. All it cost is what will probably be about 5 picks in value a 5th and a struggling Rondon. Still fair I guess, just depends on where you're at on Belt which I expect to have a broad amount of outcomes.

The second and third round picks being swapped are picks 2.21 and 3.4 (or picks 45 and 52). I think you can get the same caliber player at either pick, so those are a bit of a wash for me. The rest of of the trade (Belt with $7m retained for Rondon and a 5th) seems very one-sided in favor of the Indians. A down year for Belt in the majors is still considerably better than Rondon's best year in minors so far.
Again, considering the amount of salary withheld, I think the Giants could've gotten more. At the very least, I don't think they should've included the third.
I'm unsure if the salary being retained is for 2019 only or through 2021. That might change things a little, but not much.
