Cincinnati Sends: Carlos Santana 17,000,000 (2021) Colin McHugh 5,000,000 (2020)
Texas Sends: Adam Duvall 10,000,000 (2020) Kolby Allard David Parkinson Gabriel Maciel
I accept: So I like this trade for a number of reasons. Obviously I shed 12M this year, and lose a year on contract obligations during my expected window. On top of that Duvall fills a position of need and maybe there's a chance for a rebound, which some of the numbers look good for him, some don't, either way, he'll help me fill an OF roster slot. Additionally with handsome Adam coming back I think his retained Salary comes off my books, which gives me further money to play around with during negotations.
On the prospect side I feel pretty happy with the return. I like Allard's off-speed stuff, his age and composure, my hope is that his fastball doesn't keep him out of the rotation, still there's something to be said for a 21 year old making the majors. I asked for Parkinson as Allard insurance. David is yet another Phillies pitcher I really like and has a bit of an Allard feel as he's a lefty with a lot of polish and a decent if unspectacular pitch mix, both guys have the ceiling of a 3 or 4. Maciel is a sparkplug but without the power to really move the needle right now, decent enough approach to take a chance on.
Thanks to Joe for another phenomenal trade experience.

What can I say, I'm trying to fill holes at a decent rate. With moving Duvall for Santana, I have a 7 million surplus at a position of need for me. I can put him at a corner infield spot, and have Aguilar at 1st. McHugh is extra and is a good to great reliever, pretty good. So, I gained a need for 7 million basically a year and added a reliever for 5 million. Still have some work to do in FA now.
Allard is interesting. I acquired him last year for Cole Hamels package. I like him and I believe he has a chance to make a rotation, I just believe he is in the wrong place right now. Parkinson was the one guy I was persistent about, but adding McHugh pushed it over the edge. I'm a big Maciel guy, but I moved him to get this deal done.
Thanks, Woods, nice working with you again.
