Ive been looking for trade partners for Cano for a while, since he let the team down last season (and didnt tell me about his suspension until the day it dropped). Needed a new face of the franchise, so I brought in the sparkling Roberto Osuna and his great past. In all seriousness im extremely deep at MI and Cano was expendable at the same time I open up 5 million in cap space. Ive always loved what Osuna brings to the table, a 23 year old lights out closer, gives me a deadly closing combo of Edwin Diaz, Kimbrel, and Osuna for next season. Tyler White is the firstbase piece ive been after, as long as he gets ABs next season. Ive liked Cozens and Diaz for quite some time, as Ive tries to get them when they were owned by the Cubs and Phillies in the JBL. Diaz can hit and Cozens can strike out. Pena is a high upside defensive SS that I think gets him to the bigs eventually. Hirano is tough to give up after his dominant season but im not sure the 88mph fastball is sustainable. Thanks Frank for the negotiations, took nearly a month but we got her done.

Toronto accepts. I want to first thank Robin for putting up with me during the past month of negotiations, I realize I can be very particular at times and had been busy recently so your patience has been appreciated.
On to the trade. Something I realized far too late last season after taking over this team in the fall of 2017 is that as long as I have Trout, I should be looking to compete. My biggest weakness last year was not having many stable bats. By acquiring Cano, I get a solid 2B and his contract fits my current window. In addition to him, with Donaldson hopefully healthy and Polanco having a full year, it's like I made got new players for free. Losing Osuna will be tough (minus the personal stuff he did) as he should have a full year on one of the best teams in baseball as their closer, but at the end of the day he is still a reliever, and an expensive one at that. Hiriano will help the loss of Osuna for this season and I can figure out the rest later. As for the prospects, I really like my farm and trust my depth to where I do not mind giving up some future pieces for win now talent I like.

+5 SEA. I really like this deal from both sides. Cano is still a great hitter. OPS beast. Hirano and a 3rd rounder are nice pieces.
Osuna is a monster on and off the field. He is still so young and on a great team. I really like Tyler white. Unfortunately on the 1 year contract though. The prospects are decent. Cozens has light tower power and Diaz can hit. Pena has the glove which can always lead to the MLB.
I gave the +5 to SEA mostly on fact he got some salary relief out of it. Nice deal guys I like it.
