Mets trade: Yasmani Grandal 2019 $10,000,000
Braves trade: AJ Pollock 2020-21P $23,000,000
Grandal and Pollock had similar production last season, all things combined. Grandal has the friendlier cap hit, but has shorter term. I have a lot of cap space, so I don't mind the additional money from Pollock's contract. If Pollock stays healthy, I think he's the better player, but that is admittedly a "big if" based on recent years. It's a bit of a risk-reward move on my part, but getting a player with Pollock's potential for 2-maybe-3 years is worth it to me.

I confirm this trade.
Grandal offers me a big upgrade at the center position even if it is only for 1 year.
Giving up on Pollock is tough but it offers me cap relief for this year (13 mil) and the future (23 mil) that I am planning to use it to improve other positions on my team.
I still have Schwarber, Haniger, Acuna, Reddick, Inciarte and Castellanos and only 5 spots available and a lot of good OF prospects like Heliot, Larnach, Siani or Isbel.
Thanks for the trade Alex!

0. This is a great trade of two teams trading for need. Obviously the length and value of contracts is different, but the Mets have plenty of money to work with so it goes out the window. Pollock is great player and Im curious to see where he ends up.
