Seattle Trades: OF Jason Heyward
San Diego Trades: RP Brad Wieck RP CD Pelham C Austin Allen 3B Charles Leblanc
While Heyward is a solid contributor in this league and fits my window, I aquired him last year in a Chris Davis salary dump and never have been fully committed to him. This frees up another 8 million in cap space before FA. Im a really big fan of Austin Allens offensive upside if he ever gets a shot in the bigs. Charles Leblanc has been a favorite of mine since I watched him play for Spokane in the Northwest league back in 16, and he is turning into a solid depth piece. Wieck and Pelham offer two high upside lefty relief pieces for down the road. Thanks Sean for the easy negotiating, good luck!

Solid contribution is what I'm valuing in Heyward. Looking forward I have many contracts set to expire in 2020, so Heyward's team option for 2021, while he'll be in his early 30's, is valuable to me. In the meantime, I have a team with a lot of veterans and I don't have the type of farm that can fuel a full scale rebuild anytime soon. Thus, I will be aggressive when I have an opportunity to add guys like Heyward.
Allen and Leblanc are solid options and two of my better prospects so I will miss them. Wieck and Pelham are solid as well, but are a little more expendable being relievers.
All in all, this is a critical move and puts me in a better position to be competitive in 2019.
