Rays trade: 2B Joe Panik $11,250,000 2021-22P RP Trevor Rosenthal $8,500,000 2020 ($5 million retained for 2020 only) SP Framber Valdez $600,000 20xx OF Justin Williams $600,000 20xx MiLB OF Kyri Washington MiLFA pick 6.9 (from NYY)
Giants trade: RP Andrew Miller $20,000,000 2019-20T ($1.5 million retained this year) RP Adam Warren $1,200,000 2019
My rationale: Improving my bullpen depth short-term and financial relief, particularly long-term. After my team's first three weeks with my upcoming schedule I figure I'd better try to take a stab at winning now if possible. I need more bullpen options, Miller and Warren will hopefully help my pen assuming Miller hasn't completely tanked, I do at least have more confidence in him turning it around than Rosenthal short-term. And with Brandon Lowe emerging as my starting 2B, Panik was becoming a very expensive depth/CI option - it would be nice for this franchise to actually be able to spend in FA one of these offseasons so shedding the contract gives me a lot more long-term flexibility than immediate although I will at least get enough banked for a couple of potential callups this season too. Giants get some younger players to help his long-term strategy and Panik will give him AB's and a starting option he needs.
Best of luck Troy!

Processed ahead of the 48 hour window as no games for scoring period 4 will begin prior to the 48 hour window being complete.
I like this deal for both sides involved - Rays for the long-term salary relief and Giants for the nice group of young players being returned. Exactly the type of move that should restore competitive ability to the Giants' roster!
