With the 1st pick of the 2nd round, the Mets select Tyler Callihan 2B/3B CIN
The Mets front office was extremely torn on which direction to go for this pick. They decided on Callihan due to his potential for plus hit and power tools.

Tough one for us in the front office on this pick, both guys we'd planned and hoped for are unfortunately gone so. We'll take who possibly could be a top 5 talent eventually and the nephew to Carlos Beltran, Matthew Lugo SS Boston!! Born and need ballplayer!

Usually I would pick this guy in the 3rd rd..... But there are some smart guys in the league and that makes me nervous. So if your going "aw man he's off the board already" doing this is a compliment to you.

Mets select Kyren Paris SS LAA The Mets were originally targeting a couple of Matt's with this pick (Allan and Wallner). They even tried a few failed trade attempts to get Allan because they didn't think he'd slide past the Rangers who were crazy enough to take the draft's first pitcher with the 15th pick. Once both players were gone, Paris found his way to the top of their board due to his youth and athleticism. San Francisco Giants (Troy) on the clock and emailed

He lasted a little longer in my other draft (like pick 50 or so, hard to tell the exact number cause that league's draft is a lot more of a rapid-fire format) but I was the one who did finally pick him there so I kinda hope we're both right on him haha.

San Francisco Giants (Troy) on the clock and emailed Rangers were not going to take Allan at 2.15. The Rangers felt we shook up the draft heavily taking Lodolo at 1.15. The Rangers really wanted George Kirby at 2.15 but Cleveland really did a good one on us.
