Cincinnati Sends: Connor Menez 1,000,000 2023 Richard Lovelady 600,000 20XX 2021 1st Round MilFA
Toronto Sends SS Ji-Hwan Bae
Cincinnati accepts. I'm a bit more bullish on Bae then I should be but I like his approach, speed and while he hasn't hit a homer yet he's got some gap power and gets a lot of XBH all while being young for the level.
Menez and Lovelady weren't guys I was full on ready to give up for free, they have some upside left but I'm more then happy consolidating two roster spots into a spec I'm really high on while giving up a pick that I would be ecstatic get Bae value out of.
Thanks to Frank for the trade and the negotiations.

Toronto Accepts. Woods was very patient with me and made this easy.
Bae is good, and I think he will be good later on, but just not as much as Woods values him. Additionally, he is far away from the majors and will not contribute to my current contention timeline while he definitely fits Woods timeline of next season and beyond. With the current prices for relievers in free agency, I figured I would get some young, lower cost ones. Menez has a chance to start. If not, he was good in relief in a small sample. If not that, well his contract doesn't suck. Lovelady was not good in the majors, but I am banking on a bounce back. On top of that, I get a first round MILB Picks! I love MILB picks! With Woods rebuilding, it has a chance to be a high one as well! I am excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Honestly this is mostly about the MILB Pick! Can it be November already?

I feel like this is a great sell-high on Frank's part. Bae, while these two teams may both like him, is still a relative unproven Asian IFA at a position that has not boded well for other Asian-born players, regardless of age in which they begin playing stateside. The kid gets on base, and while 25 doubles in under 400 PAs is above-average, it's not good, neither are his XBH numbers overall in comparison to his PAs.
He's got speed, sure, for now. But he's likely to fill out and slow down some which will cut down on his SB and bring that high BABIP down, bringing that OBP down with it. And there's still the off-field issues. What's with the Pirates and Korean infielders with off-field issues?
I apologize if I sound like I'm bashing this kid too hard, but I admittedly am shocked that he was worth a MiLBFA 1st. I think I could go back to each of the last three MiLBFA drafts and find 50+ guys I'd rather take.
On top of that, Frank gets a couple potentially-decent pitchers for cheap.

50? lol come on now. I know I'm the highest on him on the league but even looking at last year I only saw 7 or 8 I'd rather have and I can't be 42+ higher then consensus;I've seen him on some top 150-200 lists and he's less of an unknown then a 16 year old OF. Considering what I couldn't get for a 3rd round pick I wasn't getting him for that 3rd rounder. So while I may be rebuilding I'll still be better then I was last year (I have actual players who start in my lineup this year) and conservatively a top 10 pick (I'm shooting for middle of the road, mediocrity is all I know).
Note I'm fine with the rating or w/e I just thought 50+ was funny.

Bae got picked with a late 4th rounder in last year's MiLFA draft fwiw, so it's definitely a great ROI (return on investment) in one year.
