SD Trades Wil Myers OF $18 mil 2021 (3 mil per year retained by SD)
TB Trades Eric Hosmer 1B $18 mil 2021-22P
This is a good match given my need for a CI and Hasan’s need for an OF and the players having similar contracts. Factoring in skillsets of both players, Hosmer’s player option and Hosmer being the more reliable AB source, I will retain 3 mil this year and next.
Thanks Hasan, for initiating this deal.

Confirmed
After acquiring Goldy, I wanted to offer Hosmer around for an outfielder and see what I could get, mostly because with four starting OF'ers plus a Utility spot, having an extra OF option is more important than keeping another expensive 1B at CI/Util. I felt a deal with Sean would fit both our interests cause he could use another 1B/CI in the short-term. Neither Hosmer or Myers have been great the last couple years, but Hosmer's floor is higher with almost 100 RBI's last year despite his issues, while Myers is more risk-reward with a higher overall upside in power and speed, but also a higher voilatility factor. I wanted at least a little retention just because of the higher risk factor in terms of AB's/counting stats the next two years and to get a little extra space for this year.
Plus down the road while I didn't see the Hosmer option as a real negative (unlike the teams I was offering him around to) given the tenor of free agency this year and even more cap space opening up for everyone by then, it also wouldn't have been ideal to potentially have both Goldy and Hosmer on player options making a combined $57 million at the same position in 2022 either.
Hopefully this deal turns into a win-win for both of us.

+15 SD Good swap on some underperforming contracts. Given the fact that the money is the same, Hosmer is the better player in my opinion so I give the edge to SD even with the extra year on the contrac
