Dodgers trade Yu Darvish, P, $20,000,000, 2023-24P Ronald Guzmán, 1B, $600,000, 2023 Dodgers will pay $15 mil of Darvish’s salary in 2020 only.
for
JD Davis, 3B, $840,000, 2023 Gerardo Perdomo, SS
Dodgers reasoning:
Back a few months ago, when we were all expecting a full season, I needed a full time reliable SP. I had SP such as Luzardo, Urias, and Hill that I couldn’t count on because of injury or innings limits, so I signed Darvish. With the shortened season and the loss of QS as a category I no longer need Darvish. I think I may also have enough pitchers in future seasons, so cutting his salary over the next 4 years made since. After deciding to dump Darvish, I simply took the best deal I could get from any of the offering teams. I like Perdomo a lot and Davis may be able to fill a CI shortage I have better than Guzmán.
Thanks to the White Sox for making this happen just before the waiver deadline.

Although it is tough to get rid of JD Davis, I found myself getting some good starting pitching and a young star in Guzman. Thanks to Jon for the trade, and I accept

This move puts @lukesidaway at 41 on the 40 man roster, so please DFA one of your previously waived players in order to make the transaction legal (since their 48 hours to clear waivers has not yet passed)
