Chicago Receives:
Robbie Ray, 2020-21P, 14.4 M( TEX retains 9MIL of his salary for 2020)
Nick Markakis, 2020, 8.95M(TEX retains entirety of contract)
2021 5th round MiLB
2021 6th round MiLB
TEX receives:
Homer Bailey, 2020, 5M
Franchy Cordero, 2023, 600K
Jeremiah Jackson, 2B, PROSPECT
2021 6th, 8th, 9th,10th AMAT
Why TEX agreed: Robbie Ray, I like, I'm not worried about his slow start, he has always been a 4ERA with like 12K/9, he's a good fantasy pitcher in my eyes and has been my 2nd best pitcher since the beginning of the team. He'll be a Ranger in my heart forever. Markakis has been a jolt for my offense, solid, unlike the rest of my offense outside Aguilar. I have Piscotty on my bench, and I felt it was time to strike for Markakis. The draft picks were kind of eh, it is what it is.
Bailey gives me depth for the end of the year. I'll probably be running out Spencer Howard or Kris Bubic until Bailey returns, but Bailey has been solid for Minnesota. Cordero will be a waiting process; he is really struggling with the Royals, but I don't see much negative value on a guy with a minimum contract and he has some upside if he can get it together. The big piece is Jackson. Power hitting middle infielder, that's pretty rare. He's not perfect by the stretch of the imagination, but I love the kid and he has a shot to make it. Reminds me of a Brian Dozier or Schoop type of player.
This trade was probably the easiest trade I've done. Thanks, Luke! Good luck in the season!
