Padres get: 1B Jose Abreu $18,800,000 2021
White Sox get: RHP Jhoan Duran RHP Aaron Leasher RHP Hansel Rodriquez 1B Jhonkensy Noel 2B Zack Mathis OF Tyrone Taylor OF Danny Drullard RP Carter Capps $8,700,00 2021 2021 Milfa 4.7
I accept... It's very hard to trading Abreu, but this is better for my franchise. He was the AL MVP so it would have taken a haul of prospects that I like to pull the trigger. I have done or did research on every player here (except for Capps) and really, I like every player that I'm getting in the trade.. Capps is to take some money form the Padres payroll. I also lose 10M in the deal and 4.7 was offered for taking Capps. Thanks to Sean for the talks! Good luck with Jose!

Figuring out a deal like this, including a ton of depth for one year of a great talent, isn’t the easiest. Thank you Luke for the negotiations.
My reasoning here is based on the state of my current MLB roster, the fact that I have Fernando Tatis Jr, and my available cap space. Tatis Jr is a game changer, and I want to compete while I have him through 2024. My current roster, without Abreu, features only 1 viable corner infielder in Eric Hosmer and is still an area I will be looking to improve during free agency. With the amount of available cap space in the league right now though, I fully expect FA contracts to be seriously inflated, so rebuilding entirely via that route won’t be easy. Therefore, being aggressive in the trade market as well as FA market is a strategy I’m implementing. My goal for this year is to compete for a playoff spot to gain cap space for the later years of my Tatis window, and this deal is step 1.
As far as what I give up here, guys like Taylor and Drullard came my way in recent years when I made the exact type of trades Luke is making now. Mathis hit 1 HR at LSU, Noel is 19, and I have decent SP depth at the top of my farm. Basically, I’m not giving up players that I was expecting a ton of impact from in the next few years, except for Duran. The salary dump part of this trade is huge because I will have that much more flexibility in the FA market/ trades in 2021.

This is a lot of depth to give up, and a quality premier piece in Duran.
The Twins love Duran and will give him a chance to start, but if he doesn't succeed quickly, he will most likely be an elite bullpen piece like Graterol did. If Duran is a reliever, then this is a good plan for Sean, if not then this could look bad. Giving up this much depth, most likely one or two of these guys are big leaguers, but again, not any top end talent.
I think this is a fair, even trade, maybe +2 CHW

Not in love with CWS' return for Abreu but Duran seems like a top 200 prospect and maybe Noel pans out. Processed and MiLFA registry updated. Capps' twitter account describes himself as a "former" MLB pitcher, so I think it's safe to assume him retired at this point so I'm processing as such. San Diego Padres (Sean) @lukesidaway FYI
