Dodgers trade:
C Luis Torrens $600,000 2025 2B/SS Nico Hoerner $600,000 2025 3B Abraham Toro $600,000 2025 SP Luke Weaver $1,008,000 2022
Rays trade:
OF Christian Yelich $30,000,000 2021-22P (Tanpa will retain $15,000,000 2021-22P) OF Wil Myers $18,000,000 2021 ($3,000,000 retained by SD from previous trade)
I felt like my team needed help mostly in the outfield, so after missing out on Springer and Betts, I focused on Yelich. It was a long process on my end as I had worked with past Rays owners on a Yelich trade only to have them leave the league. I guess the 3rd time was a charm. Although I’m giving up a lot of years of control for some guys I really like here, I think I will look back at this as the trade that led me to a second championship. For this reason only, I decided to give up a lot for a year of these two guys. I also take on the risk of Yelich having another poor year and accepting his player option, which is why I wanted the partial salary payment.
Thanks to Mark for some good discussions and good luck with your plan moving forward.

Agreed.
Continuing with the theme of selling expiring contracts, I'm getting back a lot of years of control here. Torrens and Hoerner look good for starting roles, Weaver should at least give me starts with a chance of regaining his form. Hoping Toro can find his way to some playing time. Also freeing up some more $ to go after some of this year's free agents.

Processed. I think the Rays did pretty well here - lots of potential for solid MLB contribution for several years although no obvious star potential. All a matter of development
