I recently was in trade discussions with Stefan and found out out he is in Sweden, which really got me thinking. I have no idea who I am in this league with, lol. Maybe it was talked about when the league was formed, or maybe most of you somehow know each other, but I am clueless. I thought it may be fun to start an off season thread here where we each could post, if we want to, a little about themselves. Not sure if this is interesting to others or not, but I’ll start it off and we will see where it goes.

I’m Jon, from Indiana and currently 49 years old. I retired from the Army after 23 years in 2013 and now work for the Federal Government. I’ve got 5 children and 1 grandchild that keep me pretty busy. Not to busy to play in two fantasy leagues though! I love baseball. Always have, always will and that includes my team the Dodgers, Growing up in my house, you had 2 choices, become a Dodgers fan or find somewhere else to live. I chose the former.

Hi guys! My name is Mihai and I am 44 years old. I was born and raised in Bucharest, Romania, Europe. I have 2 kids (14 years old daughter and 12 years old son) living with my ex in Italy. In 2017 I got remarried and in mid 2019 I moved with my wife to Tokyo, Japan. I have a Master's degree in Economics and sports were my thing all my life. I am big fan of American sports and of the Boston teams (Patriots are #1). In 2019 I went to London to watch the Pats playing the...Bucs In the past couple of years I focused on fantasy baseball and started to play in money leagues. This year I had to quit several no money league but decided to continue in this one.

Jon, Great idea! I don't what part of Indiana you live in but I don't see much Dodger blue around here...thankfully.
I'm Mike, 51 years old and living in Indiana. I think of myself as a newcomer to the league, but there have been several new owners since I joined so maybe I'm somewhere in the middle. I have 4 kids (who are just older, not grown up like they think they are) and 1 grandson. I've worked in IT for the last 30 years.
I enjoy this league and everyone I've talked to. I'm pretty sure I won't talk with Jon or Mihai (c'mon, the Patriots?!?) going forward, but its nice to meet guys I'm not familiar with on a more casual front.

Love this Jon. So interesting to see so many different types of people with one thing in common, the love of baseball.
I'm Cody, born in Show Low, Arizona. Raised in western Washington state. As Jazz mentioned, him, Robin and I have been great friends since we were kids playing little league and peewee football together. Casey and Josh are more recent friends. Been a machinist for nearly 10 years now. Lifelong, diehard Mariners fan (I know fuck me right). Today is my birthday actually, just turned 31.
Also just wanted to say I absolutely love this league, its structure, and its managers. Closest thing us baseball nerds can get to being an actual owner/gm of a baseball team lol. Great job Curtis!

Great idea Jon. Ive been wondering too. What a great example of diversity and similarity. I am Casey, im 38 and live in western Washington State. I have 1 son who is 17 and a wife of 11 years. I'm in construction currently and ive been in this league for about 2 years now. The Twins are my team here but im am a Mariners fan in real life. Football has my also with the Pats, because of Drew Bledsoe. Im a big WA State Cougs fan too. Fantasy sports has been a big part of my life for over a decade, but this is my 1st league this deep and detailed. Im currently in a rebuild, but plan to have the Twinkies back in the playoffs by 2023. Good luck everyone this season, and thanks to all the admins for all the work they put in.

Who are we? Cheesy answer - the best random collection of fantasy baseball-obsessed people I've been able to find!
I'm Curtis, 28 years old and yet another WA resident up around Bellingham (BTW, JBL meet up at a Mariners game as soon as we're allowed in). My wife and I both work as engineers at a refinery up here and are expecting our first child in August!
I was a horrible little league baseball player so this is the closest I come to living out my childhood dreams of a career in baseball, though I've since become an avid mountain biker and skiier. I'm also a big PC gamer so if anyone is on Steam let's exchange info. FPSes like Hell Let Loose and Squad are heavy in my rotation, some strategy games and RPGs too.

I'll go, my names Josh. Absolutely love baseball and my Mariners!!! I just recently left behind some good friends like jazz and Casey and Cody and Robin when I recently moved from western Washington to Montana. I Absolutely love this league, like Cody said it's about as close to being a gm there is except with a fantasy line up twist. I had planned on building through free agency originally but man these over inflated contracts had me do a 180 and start looking at a different approach. I enjoy talking to everyone even if I don't comment all the time. Good luck to everyone this up coming season!

Excellent idea, Jon. I am also always curious who everybody is.
I live in the SF Bay area for now, hope to get out of this country when this mess of an epidemic ends. For good.
I grew up in Brooklyn, but a Yankees fan. Now, it's Oakland, I like the little guy, though I think the Oakland owners are just cheap asses, like lots of owners. Was always attracted to California so moved here when the time was right.
I've done a lot of different jobs and been to lots of universities, my favorite being UMass Amherst. Two of my most enjoyable jobs were working with diasabled students, taking them different places such as bookstores, concerts, museums. Lovely students, easy, mostly, to work with- autistic, down syndrome and perhaps learning disabilities.
My other great job was teaching in China. Students and teachers also really fun and enjoyable.
Have been lucky and had a chance to travel much, happiest in Vietnam and India, China too. My former wife is Vietnamese and her two girls are like my own. But all travel is great and love to see Mihal in Japan.
I am close with Darryl and James from being in home roto leagues with them for years, they both are in the Bay area. Darryl and I presently are in a fangraphs points league, which is an entirely different format.

Seems like we're focused on JBL NW and JBL Indiana/Ohio Plus Sweden, Romania and Canada so much International baseball love. Is there a Finnish baseball fantasy baseball league, that Finnish baseball game looks nuts and a bunch of fun to play.
I'm Fred, 38 live in Indiana, but grew up in South Carolina but originally from Wisconsin. I moved to Eastern Indiana (I now live on the Western Suburbs of Indy) when I was about 12 and the and I've always loved baseball, and the would revel in the stats on the back of the cards, probably developed a love of the numbers how deep you could go and bury yourself in the history of the game, money ball fan before I knew it was a thing type of stuff. I was never the greatest of ball players but I tried really hard, and went to enough small schools to play for a while. The only baseball in Eastern Indiana was the giant ass 700 WLW Reds radio broadcast so I moved up here and just grew up listening to mid 90s Reds Radio Baseball which entrenched my Reds Fandom. So a Seattle Meetup and maybe a Jake for Luke or a Comisky Meet up, both stadiums I haven't been to yet. I would say Cincy but I'm biased. To me I never really got too much into other sports other then on a participation level. Love has always been for Baseball, not them other sperts.
No kids for me, and I'm pretty sure I've played with Mihai a few times, one time for sure in a weird 4 sports league that didn't last long because it sounded fun, but it was not that much fun in retrospect, especially knowing nothing about Basketball and Hockey. Before all this stuff I was an Ironworker/Driver.

I'm Mark, I'm an engineer living in Corpus Christi, Texas. I grew up in south central PA, so although I'm an Astros fan, I have a soft spot for the Orioles. I have 6 kids, just 2 left at home now. I've been enjoying fantasy baseball for over 20 years, but this is the deepest league I've tried yet. At 60, I'm the senior member of the league (so far), so you better show me some respect.

Great idea Jon. It's good to know a little about everyone in this league.
I'm Darryl, 60. Born, raised and living in the San Francisco. Just recently retired after working in IT for many years. Does anyone remember or heard of COBOL?
I've been playing in ROTO leagues since the 1980's. Enjoying this league for its format and thankful for all the work that Curtis does to make this league successful.
Favorite teams: Raiders (doesn't matter which city they're based in), Warriors & all baseball teams (since playing in ROTO leagues!). I've known Carter (WAS) and James (BOS) for many years.

Hey guys, I'm Joe as most of you guys know. I believe I've at least had conversations with every one of you guys and it is a blast to get to talk and be in a league with every one of you guys!
This is my first dynasty league and apparently was looking at exactly the right time on reddit, where Curtis posted this league! I wanted to be the Twins, my favorite team, but they were already taken. So, naturally what team do I pick between the Diamondbacks and the Rangers, eh, I kind of flipped a coin that had some bias because I wanted Yu Darvish and Nomar Mazara. Also, being a Twins fan, I know more of the Rangers players...
Anyways, I'm an engineer/ college student going for my masters at UND in Grand Forks, North Dakota it's tundra up here. I'm a diehard baseball fan and basketball fan, with both the Twins and the Timberwolves, while also spectating some football and hockey once in a while.
It's nice to get to know you guys over the years, and hope to more in the future!

Good idea Jon, it's cool to get to know everyone on a level outside of talking trades. First of all, I'd like to say that I've played in a bunch of fantasy leagues over the years, this is by far the best league I have been part of. I was looking to join a deep baseball league back in 2017 and luckily stumbled upon this beauty. I'm Robin, I'm 31 and I'm from Western Washington like half the league. I have a daughter and I've been living in Central Oregon for the past 5 years. I recently took a new job and I'm in the process of moving back to WA. I work as a wildland firefighter for the U.S. Forest Service and I love the job but unfortunately I miss a majority of the baseball season due to work. I'm a die hard sports fan, but baseball is my true love. Waiting for the day the Mariners make it to the World Series, and you bet your ass I'll be there. Myself and my two best friends Cody and Jazz all grew up in a small town where sports were all we had to stay out of trouble. Casey and Josh are great friends as well and I knew they would be awesome for the league. I hope the league continues to stay strong for many years to come.

I'm Alex, I currently live in Tennessee, but I don't think I'll be here much more than a year. Baseball was probably the sport I was worst at as a kid (I couldn't hit for my life) and I didn't particularly care for it as a fan until the late 2000's. The Rangers were always my team, but they were never true contenders until the 2010 season. Sadly, they couldn't capitalize during those good years, but it really got me into baseball as a fan. I thought about choosing them as a team when this league started, but figured I'd be too attached to players on my team and wouldn't value them properly, so I went in a different direction. I've enjoyed being a part of the league!

I'm Paul and I'm late to this party.
I'm from Houston, TX (shout out to Mark in Corpus, my kids love yall's aquarium) but also spent 10 years in the DC/VA/MD area in the 90s, so I have a soft spot for both the O's and Nats, even though they were still in Montreal at the time I lived there. The Nats are my adopted 3rd team now.
I'm 45 - I think - this year. Who really cares about age at this point? I grew up an avid sports fan but especially baseball. Like many of you, I wasn't very good but I loved playing, watching, reading about, and studying it. I'm a devoted Cubs fan - I even started a "Cubs Fund" as a young adult to save up for a WS trip some day, and yes, I used it in 2016 and we attended Game 3 at Wrigley!
I was a big football fan until about 5 years ago and didn't watch a single snap this past season until the Super Bowl. The dresses on QBs and collaring of defenses finally got to me. Similar reason I can't watch basketball anymore. No real defense, lob up too many 3s, 230-point games are now the norm. My interest has grown for hockey, however since I stopped watching football and basketball. Hockey's great in person, but once you learn the game and learn to watch player movements instead of trying to follow the puck all the time, TV viewing is also fun.
I've played fantasy baseball since 2000 but only 6ish years ago got into dynasty as my interest in prospects increased. I haven't been as active the last year and a half due to a personal tragedy and then the lockdown, but used to be quite active and hope to grow back into my usual level of interest this season. This league format, by far, is the most fun which is why I didn't drop out when I probably should have (although, if Curtis ever feels the need to boot me, I wouldn't take it personal).
By nature, I have a no non-sense, direct communication style that over my professional career I've learned to adapt somewhat so as not to be as offputting as I am naturally. I'm not much of a talker, so I think I've got out a lot - baseball usually gets me talking.
