Guys I spoke with Curtis this morning and asked if I could build a minors database tool for the draft for easier studying. This is gonna be my weekend project. I'll post them by team and affiliation plus a ranking on the top 30 by org. During the draft I can update it often too to help keep things easier on availability.

It will take more than a weekend most likely. I can probably do 7-10 each day and 2-4 on a weekday. I imagine it will take a week but I think we have that much free time before we get here at least. They will rank out too 30 first followed by AA, A adv, A. This will be about 80 ish names per org which is more than enough. If u draft someone not listed I'll just add it to the doc as we go. Any short season rookie league or rookie full season league players won't be listed unless they are in the top 30. So just be aware of that if you don't see a name that's probably why.

Any j2 ifa signings will have their own separate tab for ones not in a teams top 30. Most teams top j2s crack the top 30 however. With a few teams exemptions like Atlanta who signed a big j2 class but has such a deep system a lot don't crack the 30. But you can find them all on a separate tab

I can help with this as well if you need Braves. Maybe we can each tackle a league.

Sounds good. Take the American. I'm building it via Google sheets. I'll send you a copy you can look at. To use as a starting point.

David - If you share your sheet with me dale.coffin@gmail.com I can start adding DOBs to the MiLB players. I don't know any easy way to import that info and we are going to need it when players are drafted. Also make sure you set it up so that it is an easy cut and paste into the roster sheet. I'm sure you thought of that part already. This league is a daunting task without some database warriors to help Curtis out. Thanks for taking on this challenge guys. I'm happy to help you out where I can.

Should transfer fairly easily. I didn't consider dob but we have a much larger timeline on that. It's a simple database really. First last affiliation position. Top 30 are ranked first than it's just broken down by affiliate and position. Last column for draft keeper team result. It's a very big task, however. Decided to add rookie leagues too since I have help.

I'll add a dob column now. Once I get the nl finished I'll ship it off to you if u want. I'd say the dob issue could be handled slowly. But maybe you could get one team in per day. I'll try and poke some in the rest of the way. Halfway through nl I shipped al off to cardinals.

For the dob tab easy solution is going to be having owners include the players dob son on the draft as we go. From there I can file it into the master. Those unstated (a lot) can be left blank till they get picked up down the road in some rule v scenario. So whoever is signing up to help with minors details with me just file this in memory for later.

And I need to know who is helping on this database. James offered but I never heard much back. Dale has mentioned some things. It's a massive project and I could use two more hands in it to complete by next weekend. I'm adding rookie leagues cause I want the database to be 100% valid. It will pay off more later. And it will be very useful for years.

I'm in David. Share the file with me and let me know where you would like me to start and I'll get to work.

For those asking. The milb database will be released tomorrow night regardless of whether I have James (Dodgers) 8 teams he was tasked. The database is quite simple at this juncture. Top 30 by org plus each teams players listed by affiliate and position from AA through rookie ball. However Dale took it a step further on his 8 teams which I also intended to do but at a later date that included stats plus age. Additionally there will be condensed top 30 by org tab for all 30 teams and a separate tab listing all ifa j2 signings last j2 plus new names from this winter. Please....please include age on each spec you draft like we did in auction. I can add that to the spread sheet as we go. Thanks

The MILB Database Version 1.0 is done. Further improvements wi be made in time but for a first version it's pretty Damn useful I think. It would've been finished much earlier today but I got stiffed not once but twice on an owners commitment to finish their portion which held things up and created a lot of extra work today. I realize this was my project and responsibility but it would be nice in the future if you guys volunteer to help on something that you at least tell us that you can't meet obligations so we can adjust in advance. That's the last I'm going to say about it and leave it at that .
Over time this database will include stats for all players as well but it's not a rushed priority. I envision this having multiple used per season to include amateur drafts, rule v drafts and other things that may come into the fold.
Because of this holdup today the following teams DO NOT have an organizational chart tab at this time (SF, KC, STL, MIN, DET, CWS, CLE, NYM). But these teams have their top 30 in the first tab (Consolidated Top 30). I'll work to get those org charts done over the next month.
Couple of notes.
I am waiting for Curtis to add it to the homepage here.
All the keepers are accounted for in the notes column with the team that kept them. As the draft moves along I'll continue to update the notes section with the team drafting each player. Just keep in mind I'm not accounting for trades in that column till after the draft so if u traded a guy and the team listed is old it's staying that way to till finished.
The first tab ( Consolidated Top 30) includes each teams top 30 by org ordered by a-z last name.
The 2nd Tab (Consolidated IFA) includes all the 2016 j2 ifa signings. Ranked from 1-50 plus the rest after
The tabs after are each teams organizational chart starting with overall top 30. After that it's broken down by affiliate from AA - Rookie Ball.
Dominican Summer Leagues are not included but any DSL players in the teams top 30 are there.
Enjoy. Please include age on all draftees in thread for the database.
Any questions just ask. Thanks

Added to the navigation bar. Thanks again for all the work on this David and Dale.
This is a tool that will only prove more and more useful as we progress through the seasons. It's something that is not in my original league, and I'm excited to see how it influences our ease of prospect research!
