CHC sends: OF Eloy Jimenez $2,214,828 2024
SD sends: 3B Brady House, WAS C Dalton Rushing, LAD OF Mason Auer, TB SS Peyton Graham, DET
This one hurts as it means I'm 100% expecting my 2017-present playoff berth streak is coming to a close. Eloy was always supposed to be a core component of that dynasty, but has never put up a full season and has often been unavailable for the JBL post season. I do expect this to be his best season yet, but with relatively little depth available to me on the farm it doesn't look likely to be my year.
The return is as high risk / high reward as it gets. House and Graham especially have major power and swing and miss concerns. Is Auer a pop-up guy who will return to previous expectations, or a viable power/speed threat? Is Rushing's bat enough to carry below average defense?
Needless to say, Cease is also available on a similar cheap 2024 contract.

The biggest decision I’ve had to make with my team is whether to trade Fernando Tatis Jr, or build a team around him that can compete over the next two years. Simply put, I can’t bring myself to trade Nando. So this move is all about adding a low salary impact bat, who like FTJ, is under contract for 2 more seasons
I didn’t want to trade Auer considering I found him in the 10th round of an Amat draft, and I think he really is a diamond in the rough. But there is point of pride that I could use a former 10th rounder in a big move like this. I like the other prospects I’m giving up too, but none are at the top of prospect lists atm and like I said, I’m all in on building around Tatis
