PIT sends 3B Ke'Bryan Hayes $1,104,000 2026
CHC sends 3B Sterlin Thompson SS Dyan Jorge OF Zyhir Hope OF Akil Baddoo $1,005,480 2026
I'm in need of a long-term 3B, and while Hayes' career has been a slight disappointment offensively to this point, he progressed remarkably as the 2023 season went on. Here's to betting on an age-27 breakout. It hurts a bit to give up what is now a consensus top 100 prospect in Thompson due to his feel for contact, home park, and likely multi-position eligibility, but he's still much less of a sure thing for future playing time in my mind than Hayes. The other two prospects are high upside fliers but a long way from MLB impact and certainly fit PIT's timeline better than mine.

Pirates confirm. Thank you to Curtis for initiating discussions. Hayes likely wouldn't have been around during Pirates window of contention. Lots of upside coming back, essentially hoping one of my lottery numbers hits.

This is tough but I have to say +5 Pirates here. I really like Thompson and think he can be somewhat special. Hays meh could and thought would be better. Time will tell really in this trade.
