This one took a while to put together, thanks to Brandon for his patience. The picks listed below are for the current MiLFA draft, including 1.8 which is currently OTC. Mil Trades: OF Denzel Clarke 2021 5/1/2000 P DJ Herz 2019 1/4/2001 3B Tucker Toman 2022 11/12/2003 MiLFA 1.8 Cin Trades: OF Kyle Schwarber $30,000,000 2027-28P Retaining $20M through the term of the contract MiLFA 3.6
I like picks and prospects, sometimes to my detriment, but as been said before you have to give to get. I need help in the OF, so Schwarber's bat is a great addition. The salary retention will allow me to fill more holes in FA, but at the cost of additional prospect/pick value. Clarke is developing well and looks like a solid, productive OF in the future. I fear Herz ends up in the bullpen with his high BB/9 rate and short outings as a starter in the minors, but he could be dominate in that roll. I don't like giving up Toman or the 1st round pick, but at least I can extract some value with the 3rd rounder coming back.
Like I said, it was a long conversation, mostly due to schedules, but an easy negotiation. Thanks Brandon!

Reds agree!
The march to putting a future together continues. Like the other deals, I don’t necessarily want to retain salary but that is a key way to bring back impact, or at least vastly upgraded, talent.
Schwarber is a 3 outcomes player, but won’t do much for me. Best bet is I’m competing by the end of his contract. I am very high on Clarke and think he gets to the bigs pretty quick. Great points about Herz, but he looked like a different pitcher after the move to Washington. I think Toman has potential, but he hasn’t quite shown it yet. I think he comes into it as he gets more experience. I am all about the draft picks. There are a lot of names I like and moving up to get one excites me. Not excited to lose the the 3rd, but that the cost of doing business.
Thanks to Mike for his patience in this one. I think it’s a good deal for both sides.
Pick will be in shortly.

Nice deal both. Confirming for our new members that in deals like this during active drafts, the picks can be made as soon as both owners post acceptance and that there is no need for a commissioner to process the trade to make any OTC picks.
