Red Sox trade Jason Groome
White Sox trade Salvador Perez $8,500,000 2021-22P (White Sox eating $1M in salary for 2017)
I'm a big fan of Groome, but I'm trying to win now and needed a catcher badly. I don't really love the years on Perez's deal but he's still young and it's a fairly cheap deal at least for what the market has been. White Sox had 2 catchers and get a prospect to add to their already excellent group of young players. White Sox to confirm.

I confirm. I obviously signed two catchers by mistake. I'm a big fan of Salvy, he's young, hits for power and is a franchise type catcher. I shed $7,000,000 plus pick up Jason Groome who I like a lot.

20 in favor of ChiSox.
Salvy doesn't shine in this format and Groome is a top prospect. Taking on 8.5mil for the duration of the contract hurts to. I don't disagree I'd just rather have Groome vs a mediocre, expensive catcher. ChiSox got to dump a lot of money in this deal.

I was willing to eat a lot of money and Grandal is a .350 OBP guy vs a .291 OBP guy in salvy. If you wanted to take on 7mil like in the salvy deal the perimeters would've been totally different.

25 in favor of Chi Sox as well..
Perez is not amazing in the scoring format we have, and Groome has quite the potential.

15 I like Groome, Salvy is fine but OBP is awful. I would rather have Groome and the $$s.

I'm all in on winning this year. I need a 2B.. I'm willing to deal Rafael Devers AND I can take on a little money! Judging by these responses I'm ready for offers for guys like Hornsby, Sandberg and Joe Morgan.

0. Catchers are hard to come by and Perez is a consistently good one, for a good prospect, seems like a good even deal to me.

Dead even in my mind. Though I definitely see prospects over valued in other dynasty leagues - maybe the BoSox could have gotten more than just Salvy

Yeah I don't know why an established catcher for an 18 year old pitcher is so disjointed in peoples mind. I would rate it in favor of Red Sox if this wasn't an OBP league but it is so it's a pretty even 0.

Good trade, Groome is a nice prospect and Salvy has been consistent. 0
