It was suggested that I put together a quick guide for in-season team management. Here goes
Fantrax Roster
Fantrax uses 4 roster status words, explained below.
Active: The 23 players that accrue scoring statistics for the week period. These 23 active players are all on your 27-man roster. Teams are free to switch players on their 27-man roster in and out of scoring slots in fantrax from week to week. No forum posts are required for these moves.
Reserve: The remaining 4 players on your 27-man roster that are not accruing scoring statistics for the week period.
Minors: All other players, both 40-man and 50-man minor leagues.
Injured: Players placed on the 10 day and 60 day Disabled Lists
27-man and 40-man roster transactions: Promotions, Demotions, Disabled List
1. Promotions and demotions between the 27-man and 40-man roster must first be posted in your team's transactions thread.
2. Then make the move in Fantrax
3. Finally update the "Roster" column in the spreadsheet to read 27, 40, DL 10 or DL 60. DL 60 does not occupy a 40-man roster spot, while DL 10 does.
4. On the spreadsheet, signify the use of a player option by playing a "^" behind the number of options. In the offseason, the commissioner will deduct one option year from all players demoted to the 40-man during the 2017 season. See Section 4.1.
Disabled list moves may only be made if the player is or is reported to be heading to the MLB DL in real life. Any suspicions of exploitation will be met with punishment from the Co-Commissioners.
Waivers and DFAs
See Sections 6.2 and 6.3. In short, you will place a player on Waivers if you are not in urgent need for a roster spot, or are fishing for interested owners. A player will be DFA'd only if you are in exceedance of your 40-man roster space or want to jettison the player immediately.
Trades
We have had a lot of players asking when trades will process. As a reminder, see Section 6.4:
All trades are subject to a 48 hour minimum holding period to allow for GM comment and Co-Commissioner review. Trades will be processed prior to the Monday roster lock deadline of the scoring period if they have stood for this 48 hour period, otherwise they will process for the following scoring period.
One exception is that of on-the-clock draft picks. These can be made as soon as the second player has posted acceptance of the trade. If the trade is cancelled for any reason, the pick is retracted and stands as on-the-clock, even if further picks have been made.
