Detroit Trades PTBNL (Willi Castro - SS)
Tampa Bay Trades Devin Mesoraco - C (Tampa retains 2,500,000 for remainder of contract/2017,2018,2019)
Note: Devin Mesoraco cleared waivers on 08/17
Detroit agrees because: I'm willing to take a risk on Mesoraco, if he finds a way to get healthy then stay healthy he has shown (i'll be it in a small sample size) his bat is still the way he left it. Granted I could of claimed Devin off waivers for nothing but at 4.5 M he was too much risk to take on. Only paying him 2 M (after salary retention by TB) made him a more tolerable risk and Willi Castro seemed a fair price to pay.
If I didn't word this trade properly by the revised constitution pleas let me know

Rays accept. I didn't think having two expensive, injury-prone catchers was a luxury I could afford going into next season so I wanted to deal one of them and figured Mesoraco was more tradeable given less money/years on his contract than Ramos - though by the same token I have a little more faith in Ramos to bounce back next year. Over 50% salary retention isn't ideal but understandable given Mesoraco's lack of GP the last three years, and I liked the PTBNL I got back enough to make it worthwhile, plus the deal also saves me another $2 million going into the offseason which could help me upgrade elsewhere.

Processed Mesoraco portion of this trade. With new PTBNL rules, not sure if I should move Castro over now or wait until season is over.
