Cubs send: Yolmer Sanchez, 2B, CHW $700,000 2019-20T Pat Valaika, SS, COL $600,000 2022 Arbitration Eligible 3rd rd MiLFA pick 3.20
Giants send: Dinelson Lamet, SP, SD $840,000 2022 Arbitration Eligible Lucas Sims, SP, ATL $600,000 2022 Arbitration Eligible
Cubs' reasoning: I'm trying to accumulate upside for my aging and expensive pitching staff centered around Lester, Arrieta, and Hill. Lamet and Sims both have homer and command issues but great stuff, so I'm willing to take a gamble. I have some middle infield depth so losing Sanchez and Valaika isn't likely to bite me.

Accept. Giants get much needed infield help and a bit of cap help as well. We give up two pitchers who won't see our rotation for this year and get back players who will be starters this year.

Correction the pick is 3.24, not 3.20

Processed - must be a pretty even trade to not stir up any feedback

+45 Cubs. Lamet is a strong up and coming pitcher with high upside, given up for marginal players at best. This is uneven in my opinion and the Cubs win going away

+40 Cubs
I, too, see this as highly unbalanced.
While Lamet and Sims are not elite prospects/rookies, they do have a lot of upside because of their stuff - as Cubs already mentioned. On top of their upside, they're both cheap and controlled with boosts their value even more.
Y.Sanchez, Valaika, and the 68th MiLBFA pick seem like an extreme bargain for two upside (albeit low floor) arms that are both cheap and controlled.
I could see Sanchez/Valaika/3.20 for one of these guys as a reasonable deal that might still favor Cubs but not nearly as much.
I originally refrained from comment because I joined well after this trade processed. However, I see now that processed trades are still getting feedback, and felt compelled (now) to provide some feedback of my own.

I don't know if I'd go that far, I'll put it a Cubs +20 but I do like Lamet having him in another league and his K/9 was off the charts this year. Sims is a lot more of a lottery ticket for me. Admittedly Sanchez and Valaika aren't nearly as good as I thought they were the first time I shrugged this one off and I get why Giants wanted to strengthen their middle infield but I don't think they got enough value for giving up Lamet (a late third in the MiLFA draft doesn't move the needle either).
